    Microsoft got their mojo back

Despite being a heavy Mac user I’m thrilled to see MS newest projects. My main search engine is still Google but I really enjoy Bing. The search results give me more angles to explore and graphically is simply looks better. Too bad the SERP’s are not up to par with Google’s.

This morning I was blown away by the Microsoft Courier. It just looks amazing! I totally can see me using one of these in the process of designing websites! The courier is an electronic sketchbook with endless possibilities. I don’t think it’s fair to compare the Courier with the iPad but I’m leaning more towards the Courier.

    No soup for you!

Mircosoft is pulling the Seinfeld ads off the air. MS only aired two episodes and they were horrible! Valleywag:

Microsoft flacks are desperately dialing reporters to spin them about “phase two” of the ad campaign — a phase, due to be announced tomorrow, which will drop the aging comic altogether. Microsoft’s version of the story: Redmond had always planned to drop Seinfeld. The awkward reality: The ads only reminded us how out of touch with consumers Microsoft is — and that Bill Gates’s company has millions of dollars to waste on hiring a has-been funnyman to keep him company.

Update: In a phone call, Waggener Edstrom flack Frank Shaw confirms that Microsoft is not going on with Seinfeld, and echoes his underlings’ spin that the move was planned. There is the “potential to do other things” with Seinfeld, which Shaw says is still “possible.” He adds: “People would have been happier if everyone loved the ads, but this was not unexpected.”

Open XML File Format Converter for Mac 1.0

A lot of Mac users are still struggling with MS docx files. My previous post, a quick and dirty solution on how to open .docx files on your mac, is driving 40% of my current traffic. Time to give you an update! MS released the Open XML File Format Converter (no longer beta) on july 3rd. Since the download page is kinda hidden on the MS Mac website I decided to place the links in this post. Enjoy…

Open XML Converter allows you to convert Open XML files that were created in Office 2008 for Mac or Office 2007 for Windows so that you can open, edit, and save them in earlier versions of Office for Mac. Open XML Converter can convert Word documents, Excel workbooks, and PowerPoint presentations that are in the Open XML Format so that you can open and edit the files in Office 2004 for Mac and Office v. X for Mac. You can choose to convert and open one file, or convert a large number of files.
